Therapist for women in Goodyear, AZ and throughout AZ, OH, and CO
Meet your Therapist
Hi, I am Amanda Nomicos and I am glad you are here!
I’m passionate about helping people feel seen, supported, and safe and exactly as they are. My goal is to meet you where you’re at so we can work together to heal what’s been hurting and build something stronger moving forward.
You might be wondering, what kind of therapist am I? I like to think I show up first as a real human. I have facial expressions (maybe too many), I wear jeans, and I don’t pretend to have it all figured out. I bring warmth, honesty, and a down-to-earth approach to the therapy space. No pretense or judgement, just real connection.
I especially love working with women at all stages of life. Whether you're a college student navigating major transitions, a new mom adjusting to the realities of postpartum life, or someone healing after the end of an important relationship—this is a space for you.
A bit about me that does not relate to therapy:
Just a heads-up, you might get a special guest appearance from my two furry co-therapists, Mom and Bub (aka Ollie & Kali, my cats!) during our virtual sessions. They love to make a cameo!
Speaking of roots, I grew up soaking in that East Coast energy in New Jersey, then spent a decade living it up in Virginia before making the move to sunny Arizona.
When I'm not here with you, you can usually find me with my nose in a book – I'm a total sucker for a good romance, mystery, or anything psychology-related.
And fair warning, I could (and do!) spend hours lost in the beautiful abyss of Pinterest, dreaming up home decor ideas, trying out new recipes, and, of course, pinning all the therapy inspo. Feel free to follow me there!
How my passion developed:
My passion for therapy came from my own experience during my teenage years. Feeling unheard by my first-ever therapist made me realize the importance of the therapeutic relationship and meeting everyone where they are. This inspired me to become the supportive therapist I once needed.
How this influences my work as a therapist:
I believe the foundation of effective therapy is a strong therapeutic relationship. By creating a safe and comfortable space, I hope to help clients open up at their own pace, ensuring the process is as supportive and effective as possible.
How I help others:
My approach is holistic, focusing on the mind-body connection to address the root of your challenges. I incorporate evidence-based methods like EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), and ERP (Exposure and Response Prevention) to tailor therapy to your unique needs. With certifications in trauma (CCTS-I) and Perinatal Mental Health (PMH-C), I am equipped to support a wide range of issues that can help you EMBODY the person you wish to be.
